2024 Recap! Tokyo Game Show + New Game Credit!

2024 was a really wild but ultimately productive year! Attended many conventions (casually), didn’t upload quite as many covers... but was part of an extremely cool video game project, something I never really anticipated.

Released in late October of 2024, I was asked to remix a song for Sonic x Shadow Generations!!!

Good friend and original composer of the Sonic Adventure 2 Soundtrack, Jun Senoue, asked if I would be willing to remix a song for the game - I later found out that song would be “Supporting Me”, the boss theme for Biolizard. This was an incredible honor for me as one who had played Sonic Adventure 2 extensively during my youth.

(Rachel was also really excited about this as she had been requesting this very cover from me for years, leading me to suspect that the whole thing was somehow an elaborate inside job...)

My remix of Supporting Me was featured in the game's trailer, demo and final release as the theme you hear when fighting the Biolizard.

Later in September, at the very last minute, I was asked to perform with Senoue-san at Tokyo Game Show 2024 for his performance on the SEGA stage. I'm normally somewhat averse to playing live, but I really couldn't say no to this. We also had the opportunity to meet Teddyloid and some other really cool and talented people for the event. It was overall a wild experience, and I’m grateful to Jun for sharing it with me.

The original soundtrack to Sonic x Shadow Generations, Perfect | Reflections was released on December 25th, 2024, “Supporting Me” (now titled “Boss Battle: Biolizard”)

We made several other trips to Japan in 2024 and had the opportunity to meet many amazing and influential artists and musicians while abroad. I'm also still slowly learning Japanese as a second language despite being a bad student... maybe one day I'll be properly bilingual. Regardless, I look forward to many more exciting projects in the future, wherever they may be.
